Artist Profile of the Month - Charles X

This month's profile is on the homie Charles X. Recently me and him connected and I had some questions I wanted to ask him about is music and recent work. As an artist myself, I find many influences and examples around me that shape what content I want to create and put out into the world. Charles X is one of those dudes that I admire and he is truly on his hustle every single day. Not to mention he has the vocals and talent to really push forward in this day and age.

He also seems to be the type that no matter how rich or famous he becomes in the future, he will always remember that peace, love, and unity are the essentials to a healthy mind, body, and soul. Here's some answers to the question I had for him and also an array of his music, videos, and photos.

What's your full name, where are you from, and what's your age?

My full name is Charles X. I'm from Los Angeles, CA, but made a wrong turn at Albuqwuerqee (*bugsbunny voice) and I am 1,568,239 years old. Black don't crack haha.

What got you started making music and recording?

I started making music with my cousin Kwame in Cali. We would record a whole album in a day back then on his shitty Windows computer but I felt like a star.

How long have you been doing what you do?

16 years strong.

What made you decide to head overseas and start making music in the U.K.?

I found some producers in France that really helped my music get out there and then I did a show with method man and Redman in the UK and helped things a little bit.

Has the response to your music been what you expected?

The response has been better than I expected. Now I am just looking to expand my market and come back home.

What would you tell your younger self if you could go back 10 years?

Don't trust so many people and pay more attention to the details. If you only focus a little, you will succeed, but if you focus a lot, you could hit the top. I guess it's good I can't go back. I think I would gain too much too fast.

What was it like filming your most recent music videos?

It was dope! I actually shot 3 recently. The first, there was a bunch of girls, smoke and pizza so how could you go wrong? The second, i broke a 2018 Jaguar so I'm sure I've shot one of the most expensive scenes of my career so far, and the last one was spent traveling from Cali to NM in an RV so this one gives people a glimpse of how my life really is.

How was the experience in the creation of the "Can You Do It" animated music video?

Haha it was amazing! Quentin, the director, was a really great guy. He wrote the story of can you do it and when he presented it to me I was really surprised to see how close it really is to my world dream. Anyways, it was a great experience and I'm really thankful to Quentin and the whole Eddy crew.

Red chile or green chile?

Neither to be honest hahaha I'm a hot sauce kind of guy.

Do you prefer solo work? or collaboration?

These days I prefer solo work for sure. There is a lot of similar sounds and I feel like solo work helps me to keep my sound, my sound. Also, my solo dreams are all nearly impossible, Andre 3000, Stevie Wonder and people like that.

What are you up to now in regards to making new music and performing?

I am releasing a new video for my song "Blown" on the 20th of April and I am always touring!

Anything else you would like to mention?

It's after the end of the world don't you know that yet? Freedom starts in the mind, unity starts in the heart and the revolution starts when we say. Don't be afraid to fall in love, be afraid of falling into the spell of forever. OneLove.

Watch his most recent music video released today called "Blown". You'll probably get hungry afterwards.
